White Peas Masala Gravy


Ingredients:

1 and 1/2 cup white peas

1/2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1 medium finely chopped onion

2 red finely chopped tomatoes

2 nos finely chopped green chillies

2-3 dry red chillies cut into halves

1/2 tsp haldi

2 nos cinnamon sticks

2 nos bay leaves

5 nos cloves

2 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp jeera powder

1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

1 tsp Tikhalal red chilli powder

1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves

1/2 cup water

3 tbsp oil

Salt as per taste


Recipe:

1. Soak the white peas for overnight or for 8 hrs.

2. Boil the white peas in cooker with little haldi and salt for 2-3 whistles. Keep it aside.

3. Take oil in a kadai. Heat oil and add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.

4. Add jeera seeds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and cloves to the oil. Saute the same.

5. Add dry red chillies, chopped onions and green chillies. Saute till onions are soft and little brown.

6. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they are soft. Add haldi and salt. Saute till tomatoes are mushy.

7. Add coriander and jeera powder, later add chilli powders and saute well into the mixture.

8. Cover and let it cook on lower flame till oil starts to seperate from corners.

9. Now add the boiled peas to the mixture and mix well. In case the gravy is very thick, add little water as per the required consistency. Adjust salt as per the taste.

10. Cover and cook for more 5 mins on low to medium flame. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

11. White Peas Gravy is ready to serve with hot phulkas/rotis.
